(G3) Scheduling Scenes

Last Updated: Sep 03, 2012 03:48PM PDT

You can schedule your scenes to take place at a certain time of the day or week, or on a one-time basis, such as turning on and off the house lights when you've gone away for the weekend.

To set schedules for your scenes, click Automation at the top of your Dashboard and you'll be taken to a display of your scenes.  Place your mouse over the top of the scene's thumbnail and you'll see the familiar wrench appear for making setting adjustments.

Click the wrench and you'll see the devices that are used in your scene, as shown below:

Now click the Schedules submenu.  You'll be taken to a screen that shows you your schedules.  Since you haven't added any yet, none will be listed, so click the Add button to add a schedule to your scene:

You can set four different kinds of schedules to set off your scenes:

• Interval Based -- Your devices will do something again and again, based on a delay of minutes or hours that you decide.

• Day of Week Based -- Which days of the week your scene occurs;  Saturdays have been chosen for our example scene.

• Day of the Month Based -- When you want your scene to occur only on certain days of the month (holidays, weekends, etc.)

• Absolute -- This lets your scene occur on a particular day at a particular time.

Select which type of schedule you want for your scene.  Then click the button to Confirm Changes, and when you're satisfied with how everything is set up, click Save to save your changes.

Note:  There are two more options in the Automation submenu -- Luup and Advanced.

For most consumers, adjustments of the Luup selection is not necessary; this is primarily meant for software developers. Adjustments in the Advanced section let you fine tune your scene as shown below, such as showing the dimmed lighting level for our Late Night scene example:

When you've finished making any adjustments, always remember to save your work by clicking the Save button at the top of the screen.
