(Aeon Labs) Pairing The Key Fob Controller

Last Updated: Feb 28, 2014 12:07PM PST
Your key fob should come with its battery pre-installed.  If it ha not been pre-installed, remove the battery cover from the back and insert the battery with the plus "+" side facing up.  Now replace the cover and turn the controller so that the rear panel is facing you.

First, reset your key fob controller to give yourself a digital 'blank slate'.  Using a small object like a paper clip or pin, press the reset button on the rear left of the key fob controller and hold it for 10 seconds. The green light on the front of the controller will alternate with red light for 10 seconds, after which the light will stay on green for 2 seconds.  The unit is now reset to a blank state and ready for your pairing and programming.

Now it's time to pair your key fob controller to your Vera Smart Controller.  Slide the controller open and reveal the four buttons for operation, as shown above.  The “Include” (pairing) button on the top left is the one you'll be working with next.

To pair your key fob controller to your Vera Smart Controller, you must first put the Vera into pairing mode.  Bring the key fob controller within 3 feet of your Smart Controller.

To Pair With The VeraLite Smart Controller

On the VeraLite, press the "+" button and the orange "Ready" will light start blinking once per second -- this means that the Vera Lite is in include mode.

Now tap the "+" button on your VeraLite and you will see the "Ready" light blinking once per second.  The VeraLite is now in "pairing" mode and ready to recognize the key fob controller.

Now press the upper left "include" (pairing) button on your key fob controller.  The green light on the key fob will light up and blink to show you that the pairing was made.

The orange light on your VeraLite will flash quickly to show the pairing was successful, and then return to blinking slowly.  Push the "+" button on the VeraLite for 5 seconds to save the pairing and return to normal mode.

To Pair With The Vera3 Smart Controller

Bring the key fob controller to within 3 feet of the Vera3, then press the "Z-Wave" button.  You will see the green "Z-Wave" light flash once per second.

Now tap the "+" button on your VeraLite and you will see the "Ready" light blinking once per second.  The VeraLite is now in "pairing" mode and ready to recognize the key fob controller.

The green Z-Wave light on the Vera3 will flash quickly to show that the plug-in module was recognized.  Hold in the "Z-Wave" button for 5 seconds to save the pairing.

The plug-in module has now been paired to your Vera system and is ready to be controlled or automated through your Vera Dashboard.  Push any button on the keyfob remote to complete its pairing.

When you return to your Vera Dashboard, you should see the key fob controller show up under "Devices" as shown below:
